Interesting photo!
Ronel visiting for A:
My Languishing TBR: A
Accomplished Athena
It was taken on our first visit to Cuenca, Ecuador in April-May 2013. Thanks for visiting!
Osteoporosis is a terrible condition. Your photo made me think of one of my husband’s aunts, who had that stoop yet lived to age 107. I hope that woman has a good rest of her life. Alana ramblinwitham
So many elderly women in third world countries have back issues. Having been diagnosed with osteoporosis myself, I’m developing more of a stoop than I’d like. I’ve already lost two inches, but it would be much worse if I had to carry loads on my back as I’m sure this woman did all her life.
This is such a wonderful shot. I adore B&W photography, and this is marvellous.
I hope you enjoy all of my photos shared through the month. Thanks for stopping by!
Powerful image!
Thank you…
What an interesting composition. I really like how the curve of the balcony is echoed in the large and small graffiti, all in relation to the curve in her back. The circle and square shadows are also intriguing.
I learn from people like you. I just SNAP enough times and hope something comes out. Thank you for your thoughts!
Now that’s a person who looks like she has some stories to tell. Awesome!
I’m sure she does…
Beautiful shot, Misky! It has to be at the right place and the right time and you did it!
Hank
Great shot!
Pure luck – you take enough photos, some will be winners. Thanks!
wow, well done on your first post.
Awww, thank you!
Hi Donna,
Fantastic shot with the woman as main focus.
I am seeing my father at age 91 starting to get a stoop like this. He had been a very keen bushwalker throughout his life but now needs a walker most of the time.
She was one of the more pronounced ones but many of the women in Ecuador had stooped backs from carrying heavy loads. You are so fortunate to still have your father. I hope he has many years ahead of him still.
Really good photo! I love the way the background shades and lights frame her.
The Multicolored Diary
Thank you, it’s one of my favorite photos.
Great photo. There’s so many possible stories here.
Someday, when I have time…
Wonderful snap! Kudos. I wonder where she is going!
Probably off to get another load of food to carry on her back. One reason so many women in Ecuador are stooped but I suspect poor nutrition in childhood is another.
That is so sad!
But the reality of many third world countries.
Perfect picture for “aging”. Kudos!
Thanks!
